MS 150 charity bike ride or “rolling picnic”
Last weekend I rode in a 150 mile charity bike ride (www.ms150ri.com) to support research for multiple sclerosis and programs that address the needs of people that are living with MS. Thanks to everyone who donated!
It's a two day event; on Saturday we rode from Narragansett, RI to South Kingstown, Richmond, Hope Valley, and Voluntown, CT finally ending the day at Connecticut College in New London, CT (86 miles). On Sunday we rode back on a coastal route through Groton and Mystic, Westerly, Charlestown and South Kingstown and finishing back in Narragansett (68 miles).
Here's the whole ride:
Saturday was a beautiful day for a bike ride
but I only had a chance to take a few pics.

(GPS reads ~6 hours for the first day)
The dorm rooms at Conn. College are immaculate, but my bike claimed my bed so I had to crash on the floor. (very comfortable actually)

Sunday started a little chilly but turned out nice. The coastal route was excellent!

Here's the brightest most obnoxious jersey that I saw on any rider (900+) the whole weekend.

A poster at one of the rest stops:

When I finally got back to my car I had a flat tire, so I drove back to Somerville on a donut. At least I didn't get a flat on my bike ![]()

After the Felt broke I decided that I should use the insurance money for something constructive -- building a new bike. This resulted in Jay helping to craft this masterpiece:
Overkill? You bet! Just in the nick of time too, this weekend I'll be attempting to do the Bike MS 150 mile charity ride!
